FAQs
What can I expect from counselling?
A safe place to talk in confidence about anything that worries you or any problems you are encountering. Counselling is an opportunity for you to share, explore and unravel feelings and experiences you may not be able to reveal fully anywhere else or with anyone else.
What can I expect in my first counselling session?
In our first session I will ask you about you and your life, so that together we can make an assessment of your situation and needs.
Counselling is team work. Sometimes it is challenging. I will encourage you to commit and to participate fully, to help the process and to aid you in your healing.
How long and how often are the counselling sessions?
A session usually lasts for fifty to sixty minutes and will usually be on the same day each week. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy and the number of sessions you have will depend on your needs and wishes. We can arrange a short term of six to twelve sessions initially and then review your situation to decide whether you need to continue further.
How much will a session cost?
The cost is £60 per session, payable at each session by cash or bank transfer. A reduced rate can be negotiated in special circumstances.

Can I have counselling or supervision online?
Yes – Using a secure video link I can offer both counselling or supervision online. It’s quick and easy to set up. I send online clients a secure link and password prior to each session enabling them to log on to a encrypted site that is safe, secure and allows us to speak in total confidentiality.

Am I too old, or too young, for counselling?
No, you are never too old or too young to benefit. I work with people of all ages. My experience includes a great deal of counselling with school-age children and I currently work with Off the Record in Bath, a specialist counselling agency to support young people.
Retired and elderly people, with their wisdom and life experience, can also gain greatly from the counselling experience. My clients cover all stages of life.
